Specific Need

Heart of Jackson Humane Society would like to expand their TNR (trap, neuter, return) program by hosting more clinics. This humane approach addresses the overpopulation of stray and feral cats by stopping the breeding cycle and improving the lives of these cats. Cats are humanely trapped and taken to scheduled appointments for spaying/neutering and vaccinations and then returned to their outdoor homes. Since our program began, nearly 1,000 Jackson County cats have received TNR services. 

Mission

The purpose of this society is the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the extension of humane education.

Fun Fact
In April of 1975, Heart of Jackson Humane Society was organized and incorporated by a group of citizens concerned about the welfare of animals in Jackson County. For 30 years, and without a physical shelter, dedicated volunteers provided services for needy animals in Jackson County. In July of 1999, land was purchased at 8th & Vermont with the hopes of building a shelter. It finally happened in November of 2004, when the ground was broken for our shelter facility. The doors opened on May 4th, 2005. Since that day, we have provided a haven for almost than 3,000 dogs.
