Holton High School – Washburn Tech Assistance Fund

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

We often have students who are accepted into the Washburn Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech), only to find that fees (equipment, tools, textbooks, uniforms, etc.) associated with their program are to great for their family to meet.   Based on a families economic need, we utilize money raised to help scholarship students so that they may attend Washburn Tech, when they otherwise would not be able.   In the fall of 2022, we provided our first needs based scholarships to 6 students.  In the fall of 2023, we provided scholarships to 7 students and were able to cover 100% of their expenses.

The United Way of Greater Topeka (UWGT) is partnering with Holton High School as a Match Partner.    They are able to do this through their strategic planning to help increase educational opportunities for students at risk and in need.   The UWGT will match dollar for dollar up to $2,500.   Meaning if we can generate $2,500 in contributions, we would actually generate $5,000 towards helping our students in need to attend Washburn Tech.

In addition to the UWGT partnership, the Washburn Tech Assistance Fund will also benefit from a prorated portion of a $50,000 Major Gift Grant to the JCCF on this Thoughtful Giving Day on every dollar donated to the Fund.
