Jackson County Lions

Specific Need

The Jackson County Lions Club aims to help meet the vision screening needs of Jackson County by providing FREE Vision screening in all of the communities. In the past, we have provided screenings to individuals in Circleville, Netwaka, Denison, Soldier, Hoyt, Holton and Mayetta. Our plan is to provide FREE vision screenings whenever we have the opportunity. Our vision screening equipment is state of the art and the same equipment that is used by USD #336 School nurse staff.

We are also helping our county to reduce the amount of soft plastic that goes into our landfills by recycling soft plastic bags. The collection of the plastic is an area of focus that our club can provide aid.

Our club holds various fundraising opportunities throughout each year. The funds raised are used for assisting individuals in our community whether it be aiding in payment for eyeglasses, funding scholarships, and sending potential students to Lions Band Camp each year.

Mission

To empower Lion's Clubs, volunteers, and partners to improve health and well being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian service and grants that impact lives globally and encourage peace and international understanding.

Profile

The experience of playing as a part of a band made of nearly 200 members is something that Jackson County band students can only have as a part of a band camp.

Lions Club International also has an annual Peace Poster contest for students who are 11, 12, and 13 years of age. We can offer this opportunity to all of the school systems in Jackson County by purchasing LCI Peace Poster Kits. The 2025 Peace Poster Theme was "Dare to Dream". Each year has a different theme and along with the poster contese is also an essay contest for the sight impaired individual who are unable to enter the Peace Poster Contest for 11, 12, and 13 year old students.

Every local Lions Club is able to evaluate the needs of their community and designate funds to meet those identified needs. We need the financial support to be able to meet the needs of the citizens of Jackson County. We are the ONLY club in ALL of Jackson County. Please consider donating to the Jackson County Lions!!
