Jackson Heights Washburn Tech Assistance Fund

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

The cost for attending Washburn Tech can range from a few hundred dollars to over $2000 per program.  That is a lot of money for a student coming from a low-income family.  Our goal is to raise $5000 to make sure all students have the option to get a career in technical or vocational professions.

Mission

To "Give a hand up" for students who want to attend Washburn Tech, but their family does not have the financial ability to pay for tuition, tools, and other materials.

Profile

Overview: The “Giving A Hand Up” scholarship is designed  to assist our high school students with the cost of tools and materials while attending Washburn Tech.  Qualified students may receive full funding for their semester costs, based on the Washburn Tech cost sheet.

Eligibility Requirements: Students must be enrolled in a Washburn Tech program and qualify for the National School Lunch Program. If a student is denied but still feels assistance is needed, the student can write a paragraph explaining the hardship.

Continued Eligibility:  Students must maintain a Washburn Tech GPA of a 2.0 or higher to receive additional funding for the Spring semester. Students must apply each school year for consideration.
