Specific Need

Funds to purchase additional sitting benches, picnic table(s), and a drinking fountain.   Also a donor wall with customized tiles is planned near the spray park.  Please see profile section below.  

Mission

To enhance existing or construct new public facilities and services, special projects and programs benefitting the residents of Mayetta, Kansas.

Profile

The Mayetta Community Fund was established in 2016.  The first project is building the first spray park in Jackson County at the Mayetta City Park.  The park is now open to everyone throught the county and beyond, however there are more improvements to be made.  More sitting benches and a picnic table need to be purchased for the main park and the one downtown often used for community events.   Also, a new drinking fountain is needed.   Any contributions to the Mayetta Fund for the benches and table(s) can be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $ 2,000 when the City applies for a matching grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in February 2022.

A donor wall recognizing major contributors is planned near the spray park.   Also, everyone can participate in the wall by purchasing a customized engraved tile in one of three sizes.  Donors can have their family name(s), business name, school or graduating class, etc.  Sign up to receive information today!

Families from throughout Jackson County come to Mayetta to enjoy the spray park.  We've had over 30 people at the park at a given moment on several occasions.   It is fairly common to see 5-10 people playing or watching at various times.  The Jackson Heights pre-school brought two buses of young ones who enjoyed the park in late summer of 2021.  The Nueva Vida Spanish language families from Holton enjoyed a cook-out and play at the park this August 2021.  

Several people have suggested we open the spray park for special events in-season after dark when the color lights illuminate the waters.
