Specific Need
This is our fourth year of rolling out the Soldier Community Fund here in the community. You've helped us get started on the windows in the Gym and kept us moving on previous projects from the year before. We're excited to be building on that success and continuing to grow.
What are some things we hope to take out after this year with funding from Thoughtful Giving Day?
We're hoping to focus in on 1 central project this year, aside from keeping previous plates spinning....
- We hope to key in on and close up the Soldier Gym Building Envelope. We have a contractor who is helping us get windows in this fall. 9 windows are currently in and 40ish windows left to go! It is progress for sure! Your generosity last year is part of what is helping us make some great progress.
- Once windows are in we're hoping we can double down and start positioning the inside to be useful, even if just in very simple ways (i.e. compromised gym flooring removed and cordoned off, sills measured and ordered, subfloor installed.) The work isn't as flashy and noticable as some years past but will be an intricate part of moving forward and "finally!" getting to host some folks and events inside.
- Do you have something else you'd like to see funds go to in the Soldier Community? Let us know, and of your desire to donate, and we can work to make sure your funds are earmarked as so as we continue to strive to make progress on the Gym, but also in our community. Profile
We are a small group of people who share the same home town, a little-bitty town in NE Kansas with 132 people. Some of us live inside the city limits and some of us outside. But we're Soldier all the same. We're blue collar, white collar & no collar workers. Our connection. We love rural life and appreciate the value it adds to our families, our lives and our futures. We love people and believe we were created to live in community. So our idea? Lets do what we can to look after the health and sustainability of our rural community by providing space for folks to LIVE, WORK, PLAY & GROW.
While we're hoping to continue raising funds for small and large projects alike, we're just as interested in engaging people capital too!
